Bio-Cycle is Southampton’s first ever student-led food waste recycling scheme. With this
scheme, we hope to benefit the local community by recycling and repurposing otherwise
wasted food waste.
In preventing unnecessary food waste from going to landfill, by re-using it locally, we hope
to encourage sustainability within Southampton and the strong student community,
changing the way people view food waste.
How does it work?
The scheme will provide students with food waste caddies and bin liners at small fee, simultaneously allowing them to register with a regular weekly food waste pickup service
and receive all other necessary materials.
How can you get involved?
There are two main ways you can get involved with the project:
Purchase a caddy and have your food waste collected from your doorstep twice a
Volunteer as a cyclist to pick up food waste from student’s homes and benefit from
all the perks that come with it
If you would like to reserve a caddy or if you have any questions about the scheme including taking part in another way, please feel free to contact Artur for more information. Otherwise please apply to volunteer using the apply tab at the top!
Volunteering with Biocycle won't cost you
Any reasonable expenses which you might incur will be reimbursed.
Why not volunteer with a friend?
Volunteering for Southampton Hub is social and you'll have the chance to meet many like-minded people, but why not ask a friend to sign up with you too?
If you need reasonable alterations made to volunteer then just get in touch! We are inclusive and encouraging of all students who want to volunteer.
